Chitra is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who exercises the power of storytelling through metaphor in music. Having grown up in the Bay Area as an Indian-American, she was classically-trained on the violin and viola, but vocally explored different genres and styles of music from Jazz to South Indian Classical, to Popular music. Her voice sways between Pop and R&B, as her tone sounds unique, dark, and intriguing. As a past studio intern for DJ/Producer, Mark Ronson, Chitra learned the importance of intention in terms of songwriting and production, which is extremely clear in her new song, “Throwaway;” which was released on September 15, 2021.
